{"id":7674,"date":"2023-11-05T19:16:58","date_gmt":"2023-11-05T18:16:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dermatim.rs\/?post_type=dermatologija&#038;p=7674"},"modified":"2023-11-14T15:00:43","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T14:00:43","slug":"lichen-planus","status":"publish","type":"dermatologija","link":"https:\/\/dermatim.rs\/en\/dermatology-in-belgrade\/lichen-planus\/","title":{"rendered":"Lichen planus"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n<strong>Lichen planus<\/strong>is not contagious.\r\n\r\n \r\n<h2 id=\"headline-9-156\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the symptoms of lichen planus?<\/h2>\r\n \r\n\r\n<strong>Lichen planus<\/strong> usually appears on the skin as hard elevated purple lesion, round at the beginning, and later developing a characteristic polygonal shape, with flat shiny surface and thin white lines on it (Wickham stretch marks). Most often the lesions are accompanied by severe itching.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe places where they usually appear are the folds of hands, forearms, lower back, belt area, but they can affect the whole body except the face. Lichen planus is associated with a positive <strong>Koebner phenomenon<\/strong>, a linear distribution of lichen lesions due to scratching, as well as their appearance in sites of injury. After healing, a dark pigmentation may remain.\r\nIt rarely appears on other body parts.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe mucous membrane of the lip (the inner sides of the cheeks and the sides of the tongue) and genitals are most often affected. It is manifested as white, lacy patches (Netz phenomenon). Superficial sores and atrophy of the affected mucosa may develop.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nOn the scalp, the lesions in the form of pink scaling patches, followed by hair loss with atrophy are observed. Longitudinal ridging is present on the nails with the destruction of the nail plate.\r\n\r\n \r\n<h2 id=\"headline-13-156\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do we treat Lichen planus?<\/h2>\r\n \r\n\r\nThe diagnosis is made based on the appearance, course of the disease,\r\nas well as histopathological results. Therapy with <strong>corticosteroid<\/strong> ointments is prescribe to relieve itching. In general therapy, <strong>antihistamines<\/strong>, <strong>sedatives<\/strong> are prescribed, and, if necessary, <strong>corticosteroids<\/strong> and <strong>retinoids<\/strong>.\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lichen planusis not contagious.
