What’s an 8-point facelift and is it right for everyone? During the aging process, our skin changes and becomes thinner with depletion of facial fat, resulting in loose facial skin and wrinkle formation. Although, there are numerous methods today to restore a fresher look and reduce wrinkles, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have been one of the most popular methods for years They are used both for wrinkle removal and complete facelift (full facelift with hyaluronic acid).

Hyaluronic acid fillers are gel structures which contain hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar found in most of our body tissues that binds water allowing deep and long-lasting skin hydration. Thus, wrinkles are filled and face is lifted leaving you with more refreshed and rejuvenated look.

In recent years, hyaluronic acid has also been used for face lift in 8 and 7 points. These protocols were developed by the famous Brazilian surgeon Dr. Mauricio De Maio and are now used worldwide. The technique is minimally invasive and involves injecting hyaluronic acid fillers targeting eight or seven areas of the face that are most likely to lose volume and begin to sag as we age. Each targeted area has an interdependent effect on other areas, contributing to the overall improved look, i.e. face lifting. The result of the treatment can be seen immediately and can last about 18 months.

If this technique were to be applied to each person, the distinctive individual facial features would be lost, and all women would look alike. Because of that, we are seeing more and more big and wide faces around us. A certain number of patients have developed a strong but justified aversion to hyaluronic acid fillers.

It is important to point out that every person is different and that it is simply not possible for everyone to do a facelift at the listed points and get a natural look after the treatment. This is one of the reasons why the treatment should be done exclusively by an experienced doctor.

Our recommendation is to use hyaluronic acid fillers in small amounts, and to perform additional facelift using radiofrequency, CO2 laser or other methods that we use in Dermatim office.

Also, the use of hyaluronic acid fillers can not be completely excluded, but with proper application the dermatologist will create tighter, fresher, rejuvenated look with what is most important – preserved natural features of the face.
